Par cet acte la gestion municipale socialiste-démocrate elle-même a été honorée et par le même temps, a su montrer qu'à l'avenir ce ne seront pas les héros de l'épée qui seront honorés mais ceux de l'esprit."

"On the occasion of the sixty-eighth birthday of Professor Freud Stadtrat Professor Tandler, representing the Mayor, congratulated the great scientist in his apartment and presented him with the diploma of the Bürgerrecht of the City of Vienna. With this act the Social Democrat municipal administration has itself been honoured and at the same time shown that in future not the heroes of the sword but those of the spirit shall be honoured."
