La photographie a probablement été prise quand le Comité s'est réuni au Congrès International de Psychanalyse à Berlin.

"Plus tard, il a donné il a donné à certains de ses élèves des intailles similaires, comme marques d'amitié et d'estime particulières. A cette époque, il n'y avait un nombre limité de personnes intimes à recevoir cette distinction - Abraham, Eitingon, Ferenczi, Jones, Rank et moi-même. Notre dévouement pour la psychanalyse, l'intérêt qui nous absorbait tous, nos fréquents échanges de vues et d'idées et notre travail commun pour construire et organiser le mouvement psychanalytique nous avaient déjà réunis étroitement. Le cadeau des anneaux était doté d'une certaine signification symbolique : Cela nous rappelait que nos relations les uns envers les autres étaient centrées autour de quelques chose qui nous était commun à tous."

The photograph was probably taken when the Committee met at the International Psycho-Analytical Congress in Berlin.

"Later he gave some of his pupils similar intaglios as tokens of his special friendship and esteem. At that time it was a limited group of intimates who received this distinction - Abraham, Eitingon, Ferenczi, Jones, Rank and myself. Our devotion to psycho-analysis, the one interest which absorbed us all, our frequent exchange of views and ideas, and our work together in building up and organizing the psycho-analytical movement had already brought us close together. The gift of the rings had a certain symbolic significance : it reminded us that our relations with one another were centred on something common to us all."
