A peu près à la même époque, mes fils ont pris une photo de moi qui est assez naturelle et bien mieux. Si vous voulez, j'essaierai d'en trouver une copie à Vienne. La meilleure, et selon moi, la plus flatteuse, est celle du médaillon que C.M. Schwerdtener m'a fait pour mon cinquantième anniversaire. Si vous voulez la voir, je vous l'envoie aussitôt."

"I have not willingly sat for a photograph for 15 years, because I am so vain I can't quite face the physical deterioration. Two years ago I had to be photographed for the Exhibition of Hygiene (by order), but I detest the picture so much that I won't lift a finger to let you have it. At about the same time my boys took a picture of me which is quite natural and far better. If you like, I will try to find you a copy in Vienna. The best and to me most flattering is the medaillion C. M. Schwerdtner made for my 50th birthday. As soon as I hear that you would like it, I will have it sent."
